Library able to offer services in more expansive capacity

The Grants Public Library has offered services all throughout the pandemic, but they are now able to offer them in a more expansive capacity. According to Library Director Nadine Jiron, many of the library’s services were being offered throughout the past year but were limited in the way that they could be delivered.

Stansbury wins special election in New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Melanie Ann Stansbury, a Democrat from Bernalillo, won the special election to fill a vacancy in New Mexico’s Congressional Delegation. Defeating five other candidates for this position, Stansbury maintained the Democrat control over New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District and kept the state’s House of Representatives delegation entirely female.

U.S. Secretary of Commerce statement on Biden-Harris Administration 100 day supply chain review

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Biden-Harris Administration released its 100-day supply chain review of critical industries. As part of the review, the U.S. Department of Commerce conducted an analysis of risks pertaining to each segment of the semiconductor supply chain – from design and manufacturing to assembly, test, and packaging, as well as materials and semiconductor equipment – and provided recommendations to address those risks, both in the longand short-term. U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo will present the Department’s findings to the Biden-Harris Administration today at the White House.

Cibola County Commissioner and City of Grants Code Enforcement Officer Robert Windhorst has lived in Cibola County for about 10 years. He and his family moved to the area in 2011 and have been here ever since. Windhorst has been a commissioner for the county for about four and a half years and the code enforcement officer for about six and a half years. Throughout his time in these positions Windhorst has developed a pressing desire to make Cibola County one of the cleanest counties in the state of New Mexico; he has started many cleanup initiatives trying to make that happen.

Attorney General Balderas files suit against baby-food makers and retailers for selling products containing toxic heavy metals

SANTA FE, NM – Attorney General Hector Balderas filed suit against a number of baby food makers and major retail chains, alleging that they market and sell products in the State that are tainted with dangerous levels of arsenic, lead, mercury, and cadmium. Filed in First Judicial District Court in Santa Fe, the Attorney General’s complaint asserts that defendants including Beech-Nut, Nurture, Hain Celestial, WalMart, and Kroger have violated consumer protection laws by promoting and selling certain contaminated products as safe and appropriate for babies, infants, and young children, “precisely the population most vulnerable to the serious adverse neurodevelopmental effects and other adverse health effects known to be associated with exposure to or consumption of” toxic chemicals and heavy metals.

New Mexico launches ‘Vax 2 the Max’ Sweepstakes

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, the New Mexico Department of Health and the New Mexico Lottery on Tuesday announced New Mexico’s Vax 2 the Max Sweepstakes, a statewide vaccination incentive program that will make available $10 million in total prize money to New Mexicans who receive their COVID-19 vaccinations, among other prizes and awards throughout the summer.
