Canvassing Votes and Cibola County’s New Sheriff

GRANTS, N.M. – On November 17, the Cibola County Board of Commissioners held two meetings. The first was a special meeting at 4 p.m. to canvass the results of the 2022 general election and appoint a sheriff. They voted to become a Canvassing Board and were given the numbers.

Hunger Strike

MILAN, N.M.– The Cibola County Correctional Center is once again in hot water for the alleged mistreatment of immigrant detainees. CCCC is a facility which houses local Cibola County inmates, US Marshal Service inmates, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement inmates.

Grants Neck Slashing

GRANTS, N.M. – Heartbreak led to a violent attack at the Riverwalk Amphitheater in Grants, New Mexico. Grants police officers were dispatched to the Riverwalk at 7:35 p.m. on October 23 for a man that was bleeding from his neck.

SANTA FE, N.M. – The Cibola Citizen Newspaper is proud to announced that the publication won two awards on November 12 from the New Mexico Newspaper Association’s Better Newspaper Award Competition. The Cibola Citizen has won four awards total from the NMPA Better Newspaper Award Competition.

GRANTS, N.M. – The General Election was held on November 8, 2022 and had New Mexicans elect their governor. In Cibola County, residents elected members of the county board of commissioners, two state representatives, and a new sheriff.
