GRANTS, N.M.- The Grants Public Library has a few events taking place this fall into winter. One of these is Book Angels. This is a gifting program that will allow families to sign up their child to receive a book for Christmas from a Book Angel.

COVID-19 in Cibola Through October

COVID-19 showed its teeth once again this last month, more than doubling the number of new COVID cases from September. October saw one COVID-related death of a Cibola community member, and broke a streak of no COVID-deaths which began in September.

Man Charged for Sundance Stabbing

SUNDANCE, N.M. – Sundance man Larry Gene Charley was charged with attacking a person whose home he had allegedly broken into at night on October 21. Sundance, New Mexico, is north of Ramah. With hands cut from the knife he used; Charley was seen in court on November 1.

THOREAU, N.M. – Over a year after her disappearance, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the discovery of Ella Mae Begay. Begay disappeared from her home on June 15, 2021 in Sweetwater, Arizona.

Halloween Candy Warning

GRANTS, N.M. – The Grants Police Department is warning parents to double check their children’s Halloween candy as multiple reports have come into their department about tampered candy. Families say they have found needles/other sharp objects in their children’s candy.

Understanding Election Night

The 2022 General Election was held November 8. Polls closed at 7 p.m. New Mexicans voted on whether to continue under the leadership of incumbent Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham or to change course and elect Mark Ronchetti as the new governor. This was one of many races dictated by the voters.
