LAGUNA, N.M. - A Native American scholar from the Pueblo of Laguna is among six students honored this year through the 2025 U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union Scholarship program.
Diontaye Riley, from the Pueblo of Laguna, received a $5,000 Business Plan Scholarship from U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union. Riley is in his second year pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Forest Wildlife & Law Enforcement.
A lifelong passion for the outdoors, including fishing, camping, off-road driving and hiking has shaped his academic and career goals. Riley plans to build a career in conservation, serving as a New Mexico Game and Fish Warden or in a similar role within the Forest Service.
U.S. Eagle, one of New Mexico’s leading credit unions with more than 100,000 members, awarded a total of $30,000 to six students in three categories: Concern for Community, Vigil Bullying Prevention, and Business Plan. Each recipient received $5,000 to continue their education.
“U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union is thrilled to announce six winners of this year’s scholarship award,” said Steve Schreiner, chief experience officer at U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union. “The students’ extensive school work and accomplishments will help prepare them for a future that positively impacts society and underscores the credit union’s ‘people mean more’ philosophy by helping to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.”
