The Knights of Columbus Council #3683 would like to present the
Lady of the Year, Marie Pena.
Pena has been a pillar of the community for many years. This past weekend she was awarded the Lady of the Year at the Knights of Columbus state convention in Albuquerque.
Over the years, Marie has been a big part of the St. Teresa Catholic Church. She began playing the organ for the choir at the age of thirteen. She still plays to this day at the age of 92. Her children have also followed her example and the family takes turns cleaning the church, reading at the masses, and singing in the choir.
In addition to her involvement in the church, Marie has also been active in the community; her family has owned and operated several businesses including four laundromats, Pablita's Tamale Shop, Sunset Indian Arts, and the Pena family ranch.
Marie Pena was honored this past weekend at the Knights of Columbus New Mexico State convention as Lady of the Year. She was accompanied by her children and grandchildren as she was honored for her many good works through the year, and her life.
