Thoughtful Housing Fostering Inter-generational Connections
Dear Editor, A new housing community is proposed for (Cibola County) Grants, New Mexico, fostering inter-generational connections, catering to the needs of both 55+ adults, retirees, and single families. Indeed, this housing community presents a special opportunity to provide flexibility for families, while addressing the need for retirement and inter-generational housing.
To clarify, this thoughtful housing plan would feature a Southwestern-style community with affordable, energy-efficient, accessible, one-level homes for 55+ adults; providing a secure and amenity-rich environment. This section will be separated from a singlefamily home area, offering diverse housing options within the larger development. In addition, an aesthetically pleasing rock wall would surround the entire gated community — ensuring privacy and creating a distinct sense of place.
With this in mind, the development prioritizes the enjoyment of the region’s natural beauty, offering residents stunning views of Mt. Taylor. A safe bike and walking path will weave throughout the community, encouraging an active lifestyle and providing opportunities for residents to connect with nature. Dedicated green spaces include: a park designed for adults 55+ and a separate children’s play area, fostering a sense of community for residents of all ages.
All things considered, this thoughtful community represents a significant opportunity to foster inter-generational connections, while enhancing the quality of life for retirees and single-families. The integration of distinct housing options, coupled with a focus on an active lifestyle, native landscaping, and the area’s natural beauty — creates a promising model for this Southwestern-style community in (Cibola County) Grants, New Mexico.

The Battle Goes Remains
To the Editor of the Cibola Citizen Woody Guthrie had a message written on his guitar: “This Machine Kills Fascists.” After the end of WW2 someone asked him why he still had that message on his guitar since we beat the fascists. He replied, as long as corporations are telling the politicians what to do, the battle remains. Bingo! The Orange Man and Leon Skum are engineers on the bullet train heading straight and unabashedly toward a fascist kleptocracy. So we have the Orange-Skum team weeding out corruption and waste in the federal workforce, each with honorary degrees in Scamology. You gotta laugh--unless you are among the thousands of workers who have been arbitrarily fired. It’s part of the playbook. We work for the corporations and we pay them too. Orange Man is proposing a tax cut to corporations from 35 to 21%. I just paid a lot more than that this year. People with obscene amounts of money and power will now have more and we will have less, not just less money: less oversight on banks, environmental degradation, consumer and labor rights, access to medical care and quality education, etc. Public health? God help us in the next pandemic because this administration surely won’t. (Bleach injectors anyone?) But, hey, you want a cushy government job?
You don’t need education, experience, or a passion for your work. All you need is mindless devotion to the Orange Man and be unencumbered by anything resembling a conscience. Bonus points for a history of cruelty. That could land you a cabinet position or a seat on the Soopreem Court. Public arts and broadcasting? Fuhgeddaboudit. All that “woke” stuff? Go back to sleep. Orange-Skum will wake you up if there’s anything they decide you should know. No more Diversity- Equity-Inclusion; now it’s Compliance-Hierarchy- Extradition. Preserving wilderness and biodiversity just digs into corporate profit.
Question: Why do Republicat Congresspeople walk so funny?
Answer: You’d walk funny too if you had no spine and piles of gold in your pockets.
Any moral high ground this country might once have enjoyed is toast. This land is NOT your land; this land is NOT my land; this is corporate land. At least it’s finally clear and out in the open: it’s all about the money and power--who gets it and who doesn’t. Thanks for voting.
