Barbara Lopez

Barbara Lopez “Bear” was born December 4, 1959 in Grants, NM and passed away after a battle with a life long illness on Monday, April 3, 2023 at the age of 63. Barbara fought a hard life long disease of diabetes from the age of 8 years old.

She loved going to play Bingo and playing at the Casino with friends. She loved talking on the phone with her family and friends. She loved her cats and any animal. She will be greatly missed.

Barbara is survived by her sister: Clara Wyciniski (Rocky) of Alabama; brother: Xavier Lopez (Anna Marie) of Grants; sister: Irene Lopez of Grants; niece: Karla Archunde (Gino) of Kansas; niece: Cheryl Marsing of Albuquerque; niece: Cindy Edwards (Kevin Voigt) of Grants; nephew: Kenneth Daniel Grissom of Albuquerque; niece: Olivia Lopez-Barlow (Lee) of Albuquerque; nephew: Andrew Lopez of Albuquerque; nephew: Jesse Kormick (Alicia) of Albuquerque; nephew: Jaret Warden of Albuquerque; niece: Angelica Lerma (Velente Nunez) of Mississippi; nephew: Phillip Lerma of Arizona; nephew: Eric Lerma (Lorena) of Colorado; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents: Fermin and Josephine Lopez; and sister: RoseMary Lovitt.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 11 am at Compassion Mortuary 120 N Third Street in Grants, NM. A burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park Cemetery 500 W. Roosevelt Ave., Grants, NM. Reception to follow at Church of Christ 920 North First Street, Grants, NM.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Kormick and Andrew Lopez. The family request those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation in Barbara’s memory to the City of Grants Animal Care Center.
