James Chaves-Mahony

With heavy hearts, we announce that James Chavez-Mahony, at age of 17, passed away suddenly on December 25, 2022 at the University of New Mexico hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

James was born on March 06, 2005 in Grants, New Mexico and was currently a Senior at Grants High School. He is remembered by those who knew him as not only being funny, but as someone who possessed a beautiful soul which will truly be missed by his family and friends.

James is survived by his parents: Ursula Chavez (mother), Antonio DuBois (stepfather),Michael Mahony (father); Siblings: Dio Chavez-Mahony (brother), Antoinette De Bois (sister); Grandparents: Linda and Stevie Ivie, Raymond and Sandy Chavez, Sally DuBois; Aunts: Jamie Iverson, Terri Chavez, Stephanie Chavez, Anna Amundson, Sarah Chavez; Uncles; Andrew Amundson, Erminio DuBois, Manuel Gonzales; as well as numerous Cousins and Friends.

He is preceded in death by his Grandfathers: Benny Chavez, James Mahony, Alberto Herman Du Bois.

Funeral services for James will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at San Rafael Catholic Church beginning with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass which will conclude with a reception at San Rafael Hall as James will be cremated and no burial will be conducted. Services have been entrusted to Compassion Mortuary in Grants, NM.
