Security upgrades for four schools

GRANTS, N.M. — The Grants/Cibola County School District board approved Superintendent Max Perez’ recommendation for the construction of secure entry vestibules at four district elementary schools: Cubero, Mesa View, Milan and Mt. Taylor.

Dire warnings; Hospitals hitting capacity

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. — Cibola County has eclipsed 800 COVID-19 cases, seeing a 16.1 percent spike in cases since Tuesday of last week. Cibola has seen a 12 percent increase of deaths, bringing the county’s death total to 28. There were 806 cases in Cibola County as Monday, Nov. 9.

Fatal shooting update

LAGUNA, N.M. — A police chase that began on October 17 just west of Los Lunas, New Mexico turned fatal after ending near Laguna, NM. Valencia County Sheriff’s Deputies were pursuing a vehicle driven by Richard James Romero on State Road 6, just West of Los Lunas.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — At a roundtable with law enforcement in Albuquerque, U.S. Attorney General William P. Barr announced updates on Operation Legend, which was expanded to Albuquerque on July 22.

Yvette Herrell wins N.M. 2nd Congressional District seat

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexicans in the 2nd Congressional District sent a strong message on election night, declaring Yvette Herrell the winner with election returns showing she defeated Rep. Torres Small with 54 percent of the vote to Torres Small’s 46 percent.
