Cibola Water Monitoring Report – June 10–16

CIBOLACOUNTY, N.M. – As summer takes hold across western New Mexico, this week's monitoring data shows a familiar pattern: Bluewater Lake continues its gradual decline, the Rio San Jose remains relatively stable, and drought conditions continue to worsen.
The U.S. Drought Monitor map valid June 9, 2026, shows all of Cibola County in drought, with 37.05 percent in Severe Drought and 62.95 percent in Extreme Drought. Interim CEO/GM Appointed, Regional Candidate Search Underway

GRANTS, N.M. — The Board of Directors of Continental Divide Electric Cooperative has appointed Macario “Mac” Juarez Jr. as the Co-op's Interim CEO and General Manager.The decision follows the retirement of longtime Chief Executive Officer and General Manager Robert E.
With the help from baseball coach Mike Furbee gathering these fine young men, Chris Chambers, Evan Taylor, Ethan Taylor and Dominic Gonzales helped the Cibola Citizen move equipment out of its former office as the newspaper transitioned out of its physical space. Cibola Citizen Office Closes, Newspaper Remains Available to Community

GRANTS, N.M. — The Cibola Citizen is announcing the closure of its physical office, a difficult but necessary step as the newspaper continues working to serve readers across Cibola County.While the office has closed, the newspaper itself is not closing and will continue publishing.
