GRANTS, N.M. – A local man is in custodyafter an alleged spree of serious crimes in the City of Grants. On August 4, an unnamed female and local man Andrew Gurule “met up” in Mt. Taylor Addition, a subdivision of the city in the outskirts.

Indictments Filed in July 2025

GRANTS, N.M. — Over the past month, a Cibola County grand jury returned indictments against eleven defendants on 24 felony counts and six misdemeanors, with allegations ranging from first-degree criminal sexual penetration of a child under 13 to aggravated stalking, burglary, and drug possession.

T-23 was on assignment for the Porter Ranch Fire on July 28, 2025 thru July 30, 2025. For 3 day T-23 was manned by Assistant Chief as water support, but no water tender operator at MFD just does one job.
The Vereda Blanca Fire, burning northeast of Grants in the Mt. Taylor Ranger District, remains outside of Cibola County, despite confusion caused by its proximity and regional reporting. CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. — As of mid-August, Cibola County remains entirely in drought, though no new wildfires are actively burning within county lines. Confusion about a large nearby blaze—the Vereda Blanca Fire—has prompted local officials to clarify its actual location and status.
