Drought conditions in Cibola County are back on the rise after several months of decline. Even when conditions were improving, the United States Department of Agriculture still had Cibola County officially declared as being “in drought.” This designation has not gone away.

Q2 Tracking and recording economic data for Cibola County is very difficult. The data is not centralized, and the New Mexico Department of Workforce Connection makes access to data for unemployment very difficult.

2023 was a special year for the Mt. Taylor Quadrathlon. Not only was it the 40th anniversary of the Mt. Taylor Quadrathlon, it was also the 10th anniversary of the return of the Kids Quad.

Cibola County Adopts New Salary Plan

GRANTS, N.M. – The Cibola County Board of Commissioners Chamber was filled for the February 7 meeting. A majority of the seats were filled by the Sheriff’s Department. All commissioners were present for the meeting and the vote to approve the agenda was a unanimous “yes.
Donn Webb, a pillar of his community, shared many photos with the Cibola Citizen before his passing. Webb, seen here, was known admirably by many as “D.J. Donn” for his “Cruisin 66” radio show on KDSK 92.7 FM Radio. Donn prided himself on the show and his music. Community Leader, Citizen Writer Passes

GRANTS, N.M. – A community leader, friend, mentor, disc jockey, and fountain of knowledge passed away on February 15. Donn Webb was 75 when he passed, leaving this world to join his wife in eternal bliss. Webb was a man of faith. He cared deeply for his religion, his community, and his work.

NMSU-Grants Prioritizes Relationships

GRANTS, NM – At a time when many colleges in America are struggling to get enrollment back to pre-COVID numbers, NMSU-Grants has achieved the seemingly impossible. “We were the first campus in the NMSU system to return staff to in-person work,” Patrick Clingman said.
The 40th Mt. Taylor Quadrathlon Committee met February 8 for the 'Traffic Control Meeting.' 40th Mt. Taylor Winter Quadrathlon

The Winter Quadrathlon Entity Meeting took place Wednesday, February 8 at the Coyote del Malpais Golf Course in Grants. The meeting covered traffic control and was headed by Race Director Isaac Atencio and Assistant Race Director Kendra Brown.
