On March 4, 1865, only 41 days before his assassination, President Abraham Lincoln took the oath of office for the second time. Lincoln's second inaugural address previewed his plans for healing a once-divided nation. The speech is engraved on the north interior wall of the Lincoln Memorial.

Dear Editor: We just watched Spielberg’s film “Lincoln” (again). I was struck by how close today’s tensions match those of the Civil War. It is a good moment, then, to be reminded of two famous speeches by President Lincoln; first, as follows, his Gettysburg address, which I copied from www.owleyes.

When you get sick with a cold or the flu, it usually lasts for about a week, maybe a little longer. During this time, you feel terrible, and you don’t feel like doing anything. You typically lay in bed and rest, and you rarely get up.Depression is a lot like getting sick, you mentally feel terrible.

Dear Editor, This is the second time I have been in Grants and have had the pleasure of reading an excellent editorial from Diego Lopez. Mr. Lopez's words regarding the House's Inaction and how it weakens U.S. global leadership were cogent and timely.
