Baseball Coach and Players Shine

GRANTS, N.M. Though the Grants High School baseball season ended with a quick one and done at the 4A state tournament the team and head coach received several district accolades in district 5-4A.Mike Furbee, the GHS head baseball coach was named District Coach of the Year.

GRANTS, N.M. - The 4A Blue Cross Blue Shield state track and field championship meet was held in Albuquerque this past weekend at the University of New Mexico. Several GHS students participated.

This week's Athlete of the Week isLaila Martinez.Martinez, a senior, placed 3rd in the 800 meters and 1600 meters at the 4A Blue Cross and Blue Shield state track and field tournament.

District Track Results

GRANTS, N.M. - The Grants High School Pirates track team hosted the district meet this past weekend.Top placers for the Lady Pirates were Kiara Romero 1st in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:06.82 and first in the 3200 meters with a time of 13:30.

GRANTS, N.M. - The 4A state tennis tournament wrapped up this weekend for the GHS Pirates that participated. It was an early exit in the first round for the Lady Pirates, who were a 4th seed, they lost to St. Pius 5-2.

Pius Bests Pirates, 2-0

GRANTS, N.M. - Grants received the 8 seed in the 4A Nusenda Credit Union state baseball tournament. The 8th seed has always historically been a tough seed as you play the 9th seed which is usually a challenging team. In this case, the St. Pius Sartans.
