BLUEWATER, N.M. – As April turned into May, fishing in Cibola County continued its steady spring pace—good enough to keep anglers coming back, even as the big story at Bluewater remains dry conditions and safety heading into fire season.

GRANTS, N.M. “We went in with the goal of finishing the game in 5 innings and we played just enough to get it done,” said GHS head basebal. coach Mike Furbee.The Pirates handily defeated the Hornets 11-1. Highland scored their sole run in the first inning leading the Pirates 1-0.

GRANTS, N.M. - The Grants High School Lady Tennis team is district champion and cemented their status defeating district opponent Miyamura last week 9-0. Number 1 in singles, Emma Munson defeated Isseca Situ 6-4, 4-6, 10-3. Number 2 Marli Prendergast defeated Tatum Cowboy 76, (7-3), 6-1.

Cibola Fishing Report – April 15 – April 27

BLUEWATER LAKE, N.M. - Late April brought steady spring activity at both Bluewater Lake and the Grants Riverwalk Pond, with more people getting outside, more youth fishing in town, and wildlife sightings continuing to be part of the Bluewater experience.

GRANTS, N.M. - The Pirate baseball team is cooking with grease – they are the top team in district 5A with a 5-0 record in district play. The Pirates also are 9th in the state rankings and jumped to 8th place in the nmovertimesporots.com coaches poll.
