St. Pius defeats Pirates 39-8

One beautiful autumn evening, alumni, friends, and family packed the Port of the Pirates and enjoyed the new bleachers and striking turf field – many fans seeing the refurbished facility for the first time at the annual h o m e - coming football game.

Grants High School soccer alumni receiv player of the week award

WACO, Texas – Stephanie Doran of Louisiana College corralled the RRAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for Oct. 4-10, while Kristina Simpson of University of the Southwest (N.M.) was named the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates.

Athlete of the week

The entire lady Pirate volleyball team is this week's Athlete of the Week after winning their last three games in a row to place them in second place in their district as they close out their regular season. Currently the lady Pirates are 10-8, 2-1.

This week in Pirates sports, football was on a bye week, with the other sports on away games and matches. The lady Pirates soccer team stand 5-8, 1-4 after a duo of road trips. They had an 11-1 win over the lady Eagles of Belen (1-11, 0- 4) and a 9-0 loss to the lady Sartans of St.

Grants-based athlete commits to UNM baseball

GRANTS, N.M. — Isaac Gallegos, a 19-year-old currently playing baseball for Trinidad State Junior College in Trinidad, Colorado, recently committed to signing with the University of New Mexico to further both his academic and baseball careers.

The road has not been kind to the Pirates as they drop their fourth game on the road to the Valencia Jaguars by a score of 50-6. The young Pirates struggled on offense as they were unable to garner more than 6 points off a pass from quarterback Tyler Everhart to Knight Long in the first quarter.

GHS sports wrap up

The GHS Pirates football team has a recent weekend game against the Los Lunas Tigers and lost that contest 54-0. Volleyball GHS girls volleyball is currently 7-7 coming off a 3-1 win over the lady Tigers of Aztec. Next up for the lady Pirates will be a and away district game against St.

KIRKLAND, N.M. - The Grants High School Pirates football team dropped a tough game on the road to the Kirtland Central by a score of 63-14. “We had a pretty good week of practice, but when the lights came on, things went south,” said GHS head coach Brandon Hernandez.
