GRANTS, N.M. - Even with three goal line stops the Pirates dropped a razor thin game at the Port of the Pirates to their rival. The Bernalillo Spartans bested the Pirates, 7-6. “The game was well played on both sides by two very good teams,” said GHS head football coach Rio Thompson.

GRANTS, N.M. - March madness actually begins the Pirate basketball season, not ends the season, this year at least as COVID-19 alters schedule.

GRANTS, N.M. - The 3-1 Kirtland Central Broncos stampeded into the Port of the Pirates this past Saturday with the expectation of giving the Grants High School Pirates a run for their boodle. However, the Pirates’ defense and offense were like twin swords, slashing that KC stampede to a dead stop.

GALLUP, N.M. - Braving long traffic backups on the return drive fans who had traveled to Gallup were able to watch the Grants High School Pirate varsity football team handily defeat the hosting Gallup Bengals.

BERNALILLO N.M. - With everyone masked up, reminiscent of old Pirate movie, this past Friday the GHS Pirate football team battled it out with district rival, the St. Pius Sartans, for four quarters.

Another 500 Mile Club swimmer hits 100-mile mark

MILAN, N.M. - The 500 Mile Swim Club is a program facilitated by the Milan Natatorium that began around July of 2020. The goal is for club members to swim the number of laps that are equivalent to first, 100 miles, then 300 miles, and finally, 500 miles.

GHS ‘Speedy Gonzales’ to play college soccer

GRANTS, N.M. - Kristina Simpson, a Grants High School senior, signed with the University of the Southwest to play college soccer. The 17-year-old was front and center for the signing ceremony that was held last Thursday. The February 25 event took place at the main GHS football field bleachers.
