Bluewater Lake State Park, at 7,400 feet, lies in Las Tuces Valley near the Continental Divide in the Zuni Mountains. These mountains create the southern boundary of the San Juan Basin. The mountains form the core of an elongated structural dome that was created by regional compressional tectonics during the Cretaceous and early Tertiary periods. The SJB area is known for oil, natural gas, uranium, and coal production.

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. - The Cibola County Board of Commissioners held a meeting on April 22, 2021 at 5 p.m. The meeting was available via Facebook Live. All commissioners were present, and they started off by hearing a financial report given by Financial Director Paul Ludi and a brief summary of the Assessor’s annual report given by County Manager Kate Fletcher in the place of the County Assessor, Dolores Vallejos. City appoints new Manager

GRANTS, N.M. - The Grants city council were split on the appointment of K. Vanessa Chavez as the new city manager during Monday’s, April 26 meeting, with councilmen Erik Garcia and Fred Rodarte voting yes to appoint Chavez as manager while councilmen Rick Lucero and Fred Padilla voted no on the appointment. Grants Mayor Martin “Modey” Hicks broke the tie with a yes vote to appoint Chavez and the next city manager for Grants.
