I've lived with aliens most of my life. I didn't recognize it as a child but later I saw them looking in my eyes and making strange sounds to communicate.

Op-ed: A Letter to the Editor and Citizens of Grants from Donald Jaramillo

Body
Much has been said in regard to my termination as manager of the City of Grants. When I accepted the position, I was aware it could end at any moment due to the political tie - five elected officials, majority of three wins. My hope was to be manager for at least four years in order to make some significant progress. Well, we all know that didn't happen. Nonetheless, I was honored and thankful to serve as manager for 18 months.

It’s on the Council Dear editor, I’ve been absent from writing to you for at least the last two years in hopes that the city leaders have calmed down. It has for the most part, not so dramatic with a storm of chaos with the previous mayor, it’s relatively calm.

I want to share the order of events for the Food Pantry, a project that the City Council has been in full support of since I was elected. Alice Perez, Director for the Grants and Gallup pantries, wrote a grant for 1.8 million dollars and was awarded this grant funding by the State of New Mexico.

Dear editor, On behalf of the City of Grants I would like to take the opportunity to thank the New Mexico Department of Transportation for doing such a tremendous job cleaning the freeway (I-40) and all entrances and exits into Grants! Thousands of bags of trash have been picked up and properly discarded! Those who toss their trash out of their moving vehicles or illegally dump on private or public lands show total disrespect for the law and their actions detract greatly from the beauty of our Land of Enchantment.

The ‘Red Flag’ Law in New Mexico

Body
First, a caveat--this is not meant to be an opinion piece in favor of or against this law. Rather, it is meant to educate readers on the law’s history, intent, scope and implementation. In 2020, New Mexico became the 19th state to enact a socalled Red Flag Law. New Mexico’s Extreme Risk Firearm Protection Order Act (NMSA 40-17-1 et al.)(ERFPO Act), commonly referred to as the “red flag” law, was enacted by the NM Legislature and signed into law by Governor Lujan Grisham in 2020 at least partially in response to the mass shooting by a lone gunman at a Walmart in El Paso in August 2019 that killed 23 people.

It seems impossible to always think about 'Whatever is true, whatever is honorable' because the news brings us ugliness and evil that we can't ignore. Our children and grandchildren are, and will be, affected by so very many serious issues.

Ask Nancy: What Do I Do?

Body
What Do I Do? Dear Nancy, I recently found out that my business partner has been lying and sabotaging me and our company. I thought I had made a good decision bringing him on board, but I’m secondguessing my ability to read people.
