My husband, Peter, and I landed in Mexico again, and we did what we have done in the past. We bought an enormous cake. It’s nice to have a cake in the house. I have discovered it is not necessarily a good idea to eat cake every day, as it eventually makes my clothes too small.

In the time period between winter solstice and summer solstice, 2 February, many different celebrations have been created. It all began with a pagan festival known as imbolic. Later on, Christians developed their own celebration. A feast known as Candlemas.

Dear editor, The Office of Code Enforcement receives regular complaints from business owners that pay for trash dumpsters but can't use them because thoughtless individuals sneak over in the middle of the night, or sometimes in the light of day, and dump their own personal trash in them.
