A sign that Summer is here, hummingbirds can be seen returning to feeders across the county. These small creatures flap their wings between 10 and 15 times per second, the fastest hummingbirds can flap their wings 80 times per second.

Independence Day Parade

Cibola residents will spend this Independence Day, as they have historically, celebrating at the annual parade. As always, this year’s parade is hosted by the Grants-Cibola County Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the Grants Rodeo Association.

Fourth of July Firework Show

GRANTS, N.M. – The City of Grants Annual Fireworks Show is scheduled to go on as planned. This year’s firework extravaganza is a show put on by Cibola local Tony Madrid Jr. The fireworks display will go on at approximately 9:15 p.m.

Summer time always reminds me of hollyhocks (Alcea rosea) blooming in the garden and dolls made out of the flowers and buds. In New Mexico almost every old picture of Santa Fe has hollyhocks blooming in front of an adobe house or wall. But where did the hollyhock originate?

Former Justice Barbara Vigil honored by Tribal-State Judicial Consortium

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Tribal-State Judicial Consortium has honored retired Supreme Court Justice Barbara J. Vigil for her leadership and counsel as a member of the organization and as the Court's liaison to it.
