Filming Grants in a new television show

GRANTS, N.M. - A new television-type show is being filmed in Grants at Route 66 Junkyard Brewery. The show features two female FBI agents who are in the fictional town, Uranium, in Cibola County. The town has two law enforcement officers, a sheriff, and his deputy, and coincidentally they are son and father. The sheriff is the son, played by Gabe Baca of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Art during COVID-19

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – Four Native American artists are sharing their knowledge as New Mexico nears the one-year anniversary of the pandemic. Harvey Thomas, Pueblo of Laguna, was the first artist who demonstrated his talents during the 2021 programs that the Double Six Gallery is hosting in Grants. Last Saturday’s two-hour belt weaving program included an in-house live audience of seven people. The program was available to a larger off-site audience via Zoom. Anyone who had registered in advance was able to access the live Zoom presentation, according to Robert Gallegos, Double Six Gallery executive director.

Pizza 9 hosts fundraiser for NMSP officer

GRANTS, N.M. - On Thursday, February 11, Pizza 9-Grants and all other Pizza 9 locations hosted a fundraiser event for the family of Officer Darian Jarrott. The New Mexico State Police officer was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop recently on Interstate 10, near Deming, New Mexico.

Do not feel obliged to include cause of death. While acquaintances who first learn of a person’s death via an obituary may be curious about cause of death, loved ones of the deceased do not have to include such information if they are uncomfortable doing so. Many obituaries never include such information, so readers likely won’t expect it.
