Prescribed burns planned on Mt. Taylor Ranger District through winter and spring

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – The Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands is preparing to carry out multiple prescribed fire projects in the coming weeks, including several on the Mt. Taylor Ranger District near Grants.

Major Grants Road Construction

GRANTS, N.M. Nimitz Avenue Road Construction is set to begin February 16, 2026. Construction will be from East Sage Ave. to Clovis Ave.The road will be closed to thru traffic. Access for residents on Nimitz Ave. and emergency vehicles only will be allowed during this time.
