GRANTS, N.M. - The Grants High School Pirates defeated the visiting Silver Colts by 7 points last Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals in the Nusenda 4A state football tournament.

This week's Athlete of the Week is DJ Chavez, of the Grants High School football team. DJ threw two very tough touchdowns in the 14-7 defeat of the Silver Colts last Saturday. DJ was also the back-up quarterback and has had only a short amount of time to adjust to the quarterback role.
