NMAA Announces Hall of Fame Class of 2025

The New Mexico Activities Association, in conjunction with the NMAA Hall of Fame Committee, announces the Class of 2025 for induction into the NMAA Hall of Fame. The three inductees are Paul Benoit, Bill Green, and Dickie Roybal.

Pirates Early Exit from State

The Grants High School Boys’ Basketball Team was eliminated from the Nusenda boys 4A state basketball tournament in the first round with a 72-57 loss to Albuquerque Academy on Saturday, March 8.

GHS Baseball goes 3-0 after Recent Games

The Grants High School Boys’ Baseball team was originally scheduled a double header with the Gallup Bengals in Gallup on Saturday, March 8, however, due to field conditions, the Pirates ended up hosting the Bengals for one varsity game and one JV game.

Lady Hawks to State

Franklin Romero, Sports CorrespondentThe Laguna-Acoma Lady Hawks are also going to the big dance as a nineseed playing the eightseeded Questa Wildcats (20-6, 8-2).“This season was really good,” said Laguna-Acoma head coach Nicole Pedro.

Artesia Bests Pirates in Season Opener

In a rematch of last year’s championship game in 4A baseball, the Artesia Wildcats came to Grants to play a double header against the Pirates.The Pirate lost both games 5-1 in the first game and 12-6 in the second game.

Lady Pirates Wrap Up Season

The Lady Pirates finished their basketball season and did not earn a trip to the big dance—this year.“The season came to a sudden end—I was saddened and proud,” said Grants High School Lady Pirates first year head coach Jesi Mandagaran. “So much Coulda-Woulda’s on my brain—-we had a good run.
