Ranch Management Updates and NMCGA Southwest Regional Meeting Set for March 27

The New Mexico Cattle Growers’ Association (NMCGA) will host its 2024 Southwest Regional meeting on March 27 in Reserve, New Mexico at the Catron County Fair Grounds in conjunction with the Catron County Extension Service “Cattle and Natural Resources Management Update.” Registration is from 9:30 to 10:00. The program will start at 10:00.

NTU Eleventh Annual Research Day Competition

CROWNPOINT, NM On February 29, 2024, Navajo Technical University held its Eleventh Annual Research Day competition for students from various disciplines of study to showcase their research projects. The event awarded cash prizes to the top three research projects submitted and displayed for visitors. NTU students Merrill Benally, first place, Milton James for second place, and Makeiyla Begay and Layla James tied for third place.

Gov. Lujan Grisham signs FY25 state budget, capital outlay bills

SANTA FE – Today, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed the FY25 state budget and the Capital Outlay spending bill, finalizing a fiscally responsible spending plan that makes critical investments in New Mexico. The budget totals $10.21 billion in recurring spending, a 6.8% increase from the last fiscal year. The budget maintains reserves at 32.5% a near-historic high. This year’s Capital Outlay and General Obligation Bond appropriations include nearly $1.8 billion in projects throughout the state.
