GRANTS - The movie Nomadland was introduced by Cibola Arts Council volunteer C.L Peterson by sharing the plot and members of the cast. The film is based on the book about a true event that took place in 2011 in Empire, Nevada. The town was owned by US Gypsum, a company that manufactured gypsumbased construction sheetrock. In that year, the company closed its operation in Empire, forcing all the workers to leave their company-owned homes. The workers were given five months to leave, the town became a ghost town, and the zip code was eventually discontinued.

Recycling in Cibola – Part 1

GRANTS, NM – Recycle Cibola! is a group of volunteers who came together in February of 2010 to start an organized recycling program in Cibola County. Over the years, Recycle Cibola! has worked to promote recycling in Cibola County through outreach and educational events, providing information about recycling and other ways to support a green and healthy environment.

Diego Lopez, Reporter In a continued effort to combat the crisis of missing or murdered Indigenous persons (MMIP), the United States Department of Justice has taken significant steps to address unresolved cases, including that of Mona Renee Vallo. These initiatives are in response to the Not Invisible Act of 2019, a groundbreaking piece of legislation spearheaded by then-Congresswoman Deb Haaland, who is now the Secretary of the Department of the Interior.

She, like many other animals, has been used for breeding and dumped when the people had no use for her anymore. She deserves her happy ending. GRANTS, NM – A domestic dispute took a dangerous turn on the evening of December 16, when police were dispatched to a residence in Grants, New Mexico, in response to a shots-fired call. The incident unfolded on North Third St. and involved a man later identified as Wendall Martinez and his partner Leeanna Olguin.
