Rosemary True was born in St Louis and lived there until she was 10. Her family moved to Temple, Texas, when her father, an electrical engineer, began working for the city power plant.

On Tuesday, May 10, 2020, Heaven received an angel, Mary Lou (Baca) Griego. Mary Lou was born on August 13, 1930, in Grants, NM to Eduardo and Nicanora Baca. It was there that she met the love of her life Steve Griego who she married on April 18, 1953. Mary Lou was devoted to her husband Steve to whom she was married for 47 years, thirty-two of those years, she became his primary caregiver as a result of paralysis he sustained in a mining accident. She is survived by 6 children, Steve Jr. (Dianne), Mary Lou Gottlieb, Daniel, Kathleen, Diana Chavez (Leon), and Rebecca Griego. Mary Lou had 8 grandsons: Kyle (Tanna), Steven (LeAnn), Eric (Amie), Jason, Joel, Karl (Kassia), Joshua (Chris), Gregory (Sydnie); and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she had 3 brothers and one sister who also predeceased her, Efren (Delene), Eddie (Margo), and Alex (Carol) and Luella Baca; and she is also survived by her sister, Rosita Chavez (Eloy).

Kathy Lopez-Garcia of Albuquerque/Cubero, New Mexico passed away on May 6, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was 65 years of age. She was born on January 22, 1957 in Grants, New Mexico.

Rita Thompson, age 77, of Milan, NM, passed away unexpectedly on May 4, 2022. Rita was born on June 13, 1944 to Pedro and Margarita Torrez. Rita was born in Gallup, NM and was raised in San Rafael, NM until she married her husband, Lace Thompson, on July 11, 1970. She then moved to Milan, NM, where she lived and raised all of her children.

Steve Matkovich, age 66, long-time resident of Grants, NM, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 1st, 2022. He was an avid hunter who loved the outdoors.

Patsy Dickerson Shackleford, 90, of Conway, Arkansas passed away April 27, 2022 in Little Rock. She was born November 12, 1931 to Paul Lee Ewing and Jessie Mae (Brown) Ewing.

Patricia Jean Grimes (Leach) (Irvin), 83, of Casper, WY passed away on March 19, 2022, at her home in Casper. She was surrounded by Music and Love on her Journey.

Marie “Celina” Garcia Toivanen passed away on April 25, 2022. She was born in the small village of San Jose, New Mexico on July 2, 1939 to Frutoso and Magdalena (Gallegos) Garcia.

Raul Armando Martinez-Baca, age 67, of Grants, NM, passed away on April 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Raul was born on April 27, 1954 to mother and father, Matilda Baca and Alfredo Martinez. Raul was raised in a small village (Juan Mata Ortiz) in Chihuahua, Mexico, and as a young man, he traveled to Grants where he met the love of his life, Denise (Sabroe) Martinez. The two married on April 5, 1977. Raul and his family spent many years living in San Diego, CA, before returning to Grants in 1995. While in Grants, Raul worked for and retired from Lee Ranch, El Segundo Coal Mine. Raul was a hard-working and caring man. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, listening to music, and watching sports. After retirement, he and Denise spent time caring for their grandchildren and spending time with each other.
