Verna Marie Allen passed away peacefully on April 3, 2022. She was born July 22, 1933, to Lesley and Emma Coggins Permenter.

Orlando Archunde, 70, a life-long resident of San Rafael, N.M. His battle with cancer in recent years showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Orlando came out a hero and stayed strong to the end.

Raul Armando Martinez-Baca, age 67, of Grants, NM, passed away on April 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Raul was born on April 27, 1954 to mother and father, Matilda Baca and Alfredo Martinez. Raul was raised in a small village (Juan Mata Ortiz) in Chihuahua, Mexico, and as a young man, he traveled to Grants where he met the love of his life, Denise (Sabroe) Martinez. The two married on April 5, 1977. Raul and his family spent many years living in San Diego, CA, before returning to Grants in 1995. While in Grants, Raul worked for and retired from Lee Ranch, El Segundo Coal Mine. Raul was a hard-working and caring man. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, listening to music, and watching sports. After retirement, he and Denise spent time caring for their grandchildren and spending time with each other.

Raymond Leroy Mirabal peacefully passed away on March 9, 2022, of natural causes at the age of 75. He was born to the late Vidal and Clorinda (McBride) Mirabal in Grants, NM on May 4, 1946. Raymond was reunited with the love of his life, Dorrene (Weeks) Mirabal, who preceded him in death 11 months prior, after 36 years together. Raymond was a beloved brother, husband,

Laura Mary Young, age 84 of York, NE, died Wednesday, March 30, 2022 in York. She was born on October 25, 1937 to Marion and Burnice (Moore) Roberts in Paxton Springs, New Mexico, she always said ‘under a tree.’ She graduated from Grants, New Mexico High School in 1956. Mary was united in marriage to John Young on May 28, 1956. After living in New Mexico for a couple years they moved to Nebraska. She had four children, Pamela, Debbie, John and Lori.

Pablo Antonio Valdivia, 30, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away on March 10, 2022 after a brief illness. Pablo grew up in Cibola County, New Mexico and after graduating from St. Teresa Catholic School and Grants High School, went on to graduate from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Pablo, a resident of Atlanta, Georgia was recently living and working in Durango, Colorado where he could be nearer to the mountains he loved so much.
