The new norm: …a magic Christmas tree!

Body
It is approaching Christmas, and Evelyn and I contemplated going to the forest on what had become an annual/ritual trip to cut a Christmas tree for our home. We debated, hemmed and hawed and finally decided to purchase an artificial tree. We thought it may be more practical in the future and this is another norm we may adjust to during this COVID pandemic.

Remembering Pearl Harbor

Body
Dear Editor; We honor and remember the 2,403 Americans who lost their lives during a surprise Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941. On this day, 79 years ago, the United States lost 2,008 sailors, 218 soldiers and airmen, 109 marines and 68 civilians.

The new norm: …December!

Body
By Roger Siegmann Well, we made it this far: it is December. The year seems to have flown by one slow and social-distanced day at a time; all masked up and six feet apart.

Pondering Pundit

Body
Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. For many it’s when all the family comes together to share in food, laughs, gifts and to focus on the holy time centered around Jesus Christ and his birth. Christmas this year will be quite different for everyone as COVID-19 is still raging through our communities. It will be hard to gather families together like we have in the past, but that does not mean we can’t still be together. We could do a virtual Christmas by using live video feeds to share our experiences of the food, family and presents, while keeping all our loved ones safe this season.

Letters to the Editor

Body
Dear Editor; Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, I write to request that your administration consider a modification of your public health order to allow New Mexico businesses to open their doors and safely serve their customers. The recent closures of several Albertsons and Wal-Mart stores in the Second Congressional District are unnecessary and harmful to the local communities.

Communities needs to be very aware

Dear Editor; One of the lesser-known drugs of abuse is Xanax. In today’s society, most of the attention has been placed on opioid, methamphetamine, and alcohol addiction.

The new norm: …thanks!

Body
This year (2020) we will spend Thanksgiving home alone here in Grants. The CDC recommends this and I agree. The COVID-19 pandemic has taken off again and I don’t care to partake in the virus. We talked to our children and they agree that if this effort slows the spread of the virus it is well worth the one day of family holiday social distancing. Hopefully we can celebrate Christmas together though.

Maybe you need to talk to someone

Body
As we enter the Holiday season, it is important to remember to be grateful for everything we can be thankful for. Many people love Thanksgiving because it is a time to focus on giving thanks, loving our friends and family, and settling into the fall and winter seasons. The harvest is done, and it is time for the earth to rest, replenish, and restore. Those of us who live in the milder area of the United States look forward to time indoors, enjoying a fire, and getting cozy. Many are enjoying hunting season and the beauty of the outdoors.

State of Affairs

Body
Circa 1250 Before the Common Era was the beginning of the greatest war in the history of mankind, prior to World War I. The Gods of Greece were going about their normal business, turning beautiful women into cows and having battles of music amongst each other when, one day, they were all invited to a great party, setting the stage for a wildly fun time.

Facts, not nonsense

Body
Dear Editor; Representative Alcon is fighting for everyday New Mexicans. His opponents rely on nonsense.
