LEA COUNTY, N.M. New Mexico State Police Officer Darian Jarrott was assisting the US Homeland Security Investigations with the traffic stop of a Chevrolet pickup truck on February 4. During the traffic stop, the driver of the white truck, identified by NMSP as Omar Felix Cueva, fired at least one shot, striking, and killing Officer Jarrott.

Tax season is here, and residents are busy preparing to file their 2020 taxes. “Your tax dollars at work” is a commonly heard explanation referring to how governmental entities choose to utilize revenue.

The election of the 46th President is finally over, so to speak, amid the disbelief about voter results. I watched the inauguration and proudly did so. I did vote for a candidate, the majority spoke, and we have a new administration for the next four years.

Dear Editor; As a child and throughout my adult life, I have always tried to keep the commandments of the Lord. My mother kept the Ten Commandments on our refrigerator in the kitchen for all of us kids to see and to learn.

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Health on Wednesday announced the updated statewide COVID-19 map for the two-week period beginning Jan. 13, with 30 counties at the Red Level. Twenty counties saw a higher average daily percapita rate of new cases in the last two weeks, and 17 counties saw a higher test positivity rate; 16 counties worsened in both metrics. Only 12 counties improved in both of the two health gating criteria metrics.
