NMSP Officer dies from gunshot wound

LEA COUNTY, N.M. New Mexico State Police Officer Darian Jarrott was assisting the US Homeland Security Investigations with the traffic stop of a Chevrolet pickup truck on February 4. During the traffic stop, the driver of the white truck, identified by NMSP as Omar Felix Cueva, fired at least one shot, striking, and killing Officer Jarrott.

Under the firearm registration system, the owner of a firearm shall transmit to the Bureau the make, model, and serial number of the firearm, the identity of the owner of the firearm, the date the firearm was acquired by the owner, and where the firearm is or will be stored; and a notice specifying the identity of any person to whom, and any period of time during which, the firearm will be loaned to the person.

One county reaches Green Level, one Yellow Level

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Health on Wednesday announced the updated statewide COVID-19 map for the two-week period beginning Jan. 13, with 30 counties at the Red Level. Twenty counties saw a higher average daily percapita rate of new cases in the last two weeks, and 17 counties saw a higher test positivity rate; 16 counties worsened in both metrics. Only 12 counties improved in both of the two health gating criteria metrics.
