Difficult times

Dear Editor; 2020 has been a difficult year for a lot of people. I have never experienced a time in my life where people were so afraid. This pandemic has successively shut down our State and many parts of our nation.

Passionate Potpourri

American holiday traditions are interwoven with many cultures from around the world. Other civilizations have contributed to this month’s seasonal festivities. Some are more recent such as Giving Tuesday, the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

The new norm: …a magic Christmas tree!

It is approaching Christmas, and Evelyn and I contemplated going to the forest on what had become an annual/ritual trip to cut a Christmas tree for our home. We debated, hemmed and hawed and finally decided to purchase an artificial tree.

Remembering Pearl Harbor

Dear Editor; We honor and remember the 2,403 Americans who lost their lives during a surprise Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941. On this day, 79 years ago, the United States lost 2,008 sailors, 218 soldiers and airmen, 109 marines and 68 civilians.

The new norm: …thanks!

This year (2020) we will spend Thanksgiving home alone here in Grants. The CDC recommends this and I agree. The COVID-19 pandemic has taken off again and I don’t care to partake in the virus.

Maybe you need to talk to someone

As we enter the Holiday season, it is important to remember to be grateful for everything we can be thankful for. Many people love Thanksgiving because it is a time to focus on giving thanks, loving our friends and family, and settling into the fall and winter seasons.
