Dear Nancy:

I feel like I’m stuck on a hamster wheel and can’t get off. I’m a single mom struggling to make ends meet to provide for my daughter. Her dad is completely out of the picture, and while I have a little help from friends and family, their support is sparing since they live far away.

Dear Editor When you live in a small community, every life matters. Every life touches another. So when we lose someone we love to death, it hurts. Every day I meet someone that is carrying the burden of grief and depression like a large heavy duffle bag on their back.

This last week I had the great privilege of attending legislative committee meetings in Santa Fe. The capital is a beautiful city, ancient, and historic city. Driving to the Roundhouse – the New Mexico capitol, the building where our government is housed – you go down so much history.

In mid-December, just before the winter break, Grants High School concluded the first semester with exam week. I was pleased as most of my English/ journalism students, for the most part, approached exams well and mostly prepared.

Dear editor, The New Mexico Mining Museum did a good job in honoring the miners. They had an open house and took a tour of the underground mine. Those miners worked very hard and they worked in in human conditions. They worked days, nights and graveyard shifts.
