Calling World War II Veterans of Cibola County

is embarking on a special series to honor the brave men and women from our community who served during World War II.As time marches on, it becomes ever more important to preserve the stories of those who defended freedom and democracy during one of history’s most pivotal moments.

First Navajo Code Talkers Sworn-In at Fort Wingate

The above photograph depicts the first 29 U.S. Marine Corps Navajo Code Talkers, who were sworn in at Fort Wingate, NM, on May 4, 1942. While the US National Archies was not able to provide the names of these heroes before press time, the Cibola Citizen honors them and their sacrifice.

CIBOLA COUNTY – Over $11 million in healthcare funding is expected to increase healthcare access to citizens across Cibola County.For many in Cibola, accessing health care has long been a challenge, with rural geography and financial constraints limiting the availability of critical services.
