GRANTS, N.M. – The Grants Fire and Rescue and Cibola County Fire Command have been busy as a rash of fires has recently plagued the City of Grants. These recent fires have not been intentional, and were never intended to start larger fires. Cibola County Fire Marshal and Emergency Manager Dustin Middleton said that of the recent fires, most have been started by people with nowhere to go that were just trying to stay warm.
GRANTS, N.M. – On the 700 Block of Flagstaff Avenue in Grants, N.M., in the night of November 7 gunfire struck at least one house, with no reported injuries. The next morning, reports came in about nine gunshots going off in the area around Estancia Avenue in Grants, N.M. These incidents come around the time that GPD’s resources are stretched while helping to close roads to keep firefighters safe during the area’s recent fires, despite this pressure the department is staying active against all threats to keep the streets safe.
CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – Rumors run the town, and when they are inaccurate and false, they need to be addressed. Untrue rumors have been circulating around Facebook that the Grants Cibola County School Board is to meet in an executive session to remove a member from their board. To put this rumor to rest, President of the Grants/Cibola County School Board Ron Ortiz released a statement on November 8 asserting that not only is the rumor untrue, but that such action wouldn’t even be legal.
