Toxic spill

GRANTS, N.M. – A massive toxic spill just outside of Grants, New Mexico, was a large contributor to the 30-mile-long backup on Interstate 40 through Cibola County on Sunday, November 21. Cleanup operations have been ongoing, as of press time the cleanup work was not yet done. Hazmat specialists were called in from Phoenix, Arizona to assist in the cleanup as they were the closest specialists in the region. No firefighters were injured in the course of the cleanup, one police officer was exposed to the toxic plume which resulted from the spill.

Alleged murderer arrested

MILAN, N.M. – The Village of Milan Police Department went on the offensive to counter crime in the village, an initiative that led to the arrest of alleged murderer Anthony Montoya. Montoya was wanted on a warrant out of Grants Police Department for an alleged incident which took place in July.

LAGUNA, N.M. – Tragedy struck New Laguna on August 12 when a murder was committed, now the Federal Bureau of Investigations is seeking public assistance in discovering the culprit responsible.

Methane gas leak rumor appears to be false

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – Recently, rumors of a massive methane gas leak just outside the Pueblo of Laguna began to make its way around the internet. The leak was being cited as a reason for discontinuing use of natural gas, but when asked, both the Cibola County Sheriff’s Office and Pueblo of Laguna denied any knowledge of this alleged leak. Transwestern Pipeline, who runs the methane gas pipeline which allegedly leaked, did not respond to the Cibola Citizen’s request for comment.
