Attorney General Balderas joins multistate lawsuit against Google

SANTA FE, NM – Attorney General Hector Balderas today joined a bi-partisan coalition of 38 attorneys general in suing Google LLC for anticompetitive conduct in violation of federal law. The states allege that Google illegally maintains its monopoly power over general search engines and related advertising markets through a series of anticompetitive exclusionary contracts and conduct. As a result, Google has deprived consumers of competition that could lead to greater choice, innovation, and better privacy protections.

The closed session item was for “Threatened litigation pursuant to section 10-15-1 (H)(7) NMSA 1978, which reads: (7) meetings subject to the attorney-client privilege pertaining to threatened or pending litigation in which the public body is or may become a participant.”
