Emergency manager reports county COVID data

MILAN, N.M. – Cibola County Emergency Manager Dustin Middleton reported that the limited number of hospital beds statewide poses an ongoing threat to healthcare providers’ ability to treat COVID-19 patients. The county recorded 51 deaths on Dec. 10 and New Mexico hospitals were “almost at capacity” warned Middleton.

SANTA FE, N.M. – New Mexico MainStreet Director Daniel Gutierrez was elected to Main Street America’s Leadership Council on Dec. 10, 2020. The Council consists of eight elected Coordinating Program members and one Main Street Design professional who each serve three-year terms; the Council serves as a liaison between Main Street America’s Coordinating Programs and the National Main Street Center. Council members provide insight, advice, and guidance regarding the Main Street program and the overall Main Street movement.

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – The pandemic has ravaged the United States, New Mexico, and Cibola County. The New Mexico Department of Health noted that COVID-19 led to the death of 55 Cibola County residents as of Dec. 14. The days of darkness are almost done, as Cibola County is preparing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. It is also gearing up for a long wait, not knowing for sure when there will be enough doses for the whole county.

Zuni shooting case remains open; Gunman still free

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – On Nov. 24 Katie Mllry was going about her day, walking down the road in the Zuni Mountains near La Bajara like she loved to do. Then a car pulled up next to her and the occupant opened fire with a shotgun. Mllry survived the assault but the gunman remains on the loose.
