All the right pieces are where they need to be – for the first time in years – and I truly believe that Cibola County is fit for an explosion of economic opportunity. There are a few kinks that need to be worked out, but for the first time in a long time there is a hope in the heart of Cibola. We need to seize the moment.

I am excited to announce the second year of a New Mexico Supreme Court civics education program about the judiciary’s role in our democracy and the development of the rule of law. Last year’s program was a resounding success, reaching over 580 students in schools statewide.

For some people, holidays are like a green light. Particularly for the people who keep the traditions going, the holidays are very busy times and the only thing that comes to mind is “go, go, go!” For others, myself included lately, holidays are more like a speed bump. They seem to pop up out of the blue and are one of the few times a year that some of us actually slow down.

Bluewater Lake is a pristine fishing spot. Its importance to Cibola’s agriculture is undeniable, and it really is a great place for tourists to visit. During my last visit to the lake, I noticed something jaw dropping: The Beast of Bluewater Lake!

Honor Earth Day: Restore Full Recycling in Cibola Dear editor, Recycle Cibola! presented a petition to restore recycling in Cibola County at the Coffee with the Managers meeting on April 7th, asking them to submit it to elected officials for Cibola, Grants, and Milan. Over 370 residents have signed this petition: “WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, PETITION OUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES TO RETURN FULL RECYCLING TO CÍBOLA COUNTY.” Recycling began in Cibola in 2010.

The world said “Never Again” after the horrendous atrocities of Nazi Germany in the 1940s. Will the world sit back and watch the atrocities of Putinist Russia now in the 2020s? This may not be easy to stomach, but we – as citizens of the world – must bear witness to the suffering of our Ukrainian brothers and sisters.

We all go through seasons of life. Seasons of friendship, seasons of aloneness, seasons of joy, seasons of despair, seasons of health, and seasons of pain. That is ultimately the human experience – a series of highs and lows, mountains and valleys, and everything in between.
