Kylie Garcia During the past week, I did a bit of reflecting. I started thinking about my high school days, specifically my journey with mathematics in high school.

Dear editor, Over many years Continental Divide Electrical Co-Op has provided affordable power to our communities. Continental Divide has also given back to the City of Grants in many generous ways.

In 2019 I wrote about the New Cold War, how the Communist Party of China was actively working to undermine American strength and influence in the South China Sea, on its borders and in international organizations like the United Nations and OTAN. At the time many people scoffed at my work, claiming that there was no such competition with China – Yet, here we stand. We are living through a shift in eras, the Rules Based International Order our great-grandparents helped build is actively being torn down around us and American superiority is being challenged.

For the first time in the Cibola Citizen’s history, we are running out of bundles of newspaper. The price will remain the same, $1, but please be patient with us when we don’t have any extra bundles for sale. This last week, there was an incredibly limited number of papers we brought back from the racks to bundle.

Every once in a while, I decide to take a drive around Grants. Sometimes for work, sometimes for fun, but each time I do, I am surprised by the buildings or parts of town that I have never seen before. I have lived in Grants all of my life, and yet there are parts of the area I am still discovering.

The past few decades have really changed the world we live in. Society is no longer what it used to be. It worse than ever before and the current stream of events only seem to indicate that things are going to get far worse before they get better.

The American Revolution was fought and won by Patriots, people who had nothing to lose but their lives. Patriots came in all forms, men and women – often, we forget the importance women played in the American Revolution, the role they have historically played as champions of society and freedom. I was reminded of this recently by a reader – I have placed much focus on America’s Founding Fathers without mentioning the women that not only gave these men strength, but the women who helped inspire the freedoms and liberties we enjoy today. That is entirely my bad, American history is the experience of all Americans, and only exists because of the strength and efforts of women. Let’s explore Cibola’s connection to one of America’s greatest and least discussed heroes.

The art of giving is a very special act to bestow on another person, or entity. We are coming into the season where most folks begin this giving tradition during the Christmas season.
