Jags Outlast Pirates, 33-17

Friday nights have a little more swing to them as the high school football season takes off. This past Friday saw a packed stadium as an upbeat and energetic Grants High School Pirate football team took to the field in their season opener against the 6-A Capital Jaguars. The Pirates led at the half 17-13 however they were unable to keep the momentum from the first half and fell to the Jags by a score of 33-17.

New Mexico United Announces Singing of Zico Bailey

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - New Mexico United is excited to announce the signing of defender Zico Bailey, pending league and federation approval. Bailey joins United after successful spells with FC Cincinnati of Major League Soccer and San Antonio FC of USL Championship. Bailey made his professional debut at just 16 years old with LA Galaxy II, and has played nearly 4,000 professional minutes, despite being just 22 years old.

The Pirates fresh off a scrimmage in Gallup last week and are preparing for Capital High School in the Pirates season home opener this Friday, August 18. “The scrimmage was good – we were able to compete with four other teams and we were able to start making starting position assessments for all positions,” said Steve Brown GHS football head coach.

United Roster Update

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – New Mexico UnitedAcademy is excited to announce the addition of six new players to their 2023 roster. These players - representing a wide swath of local clubs and high schools - will be terrific additions to the UnitedAcademy community, and will participate in all training, travel, competition, and education completely free of charge, thanks to the generous support of the Somos Unidos Foundation from New Mexicans and New Mexican businesses who believe in their mission of building access to the game of soccer.
