Due to a technical issue with the platform used by MaxPreps, final rankings for the 2023 regular season will not be available in time to release the Class 2A-6A State Football Tournament Brackets on Saturday (10/28) evening as originally planned.

United will now wait to see where they will travel for the first round. Their opponent will be Sacramento Republic FC, San Antonio FC, Orange County SC, or San Diego Loyal FC, depending on results on Saturday night.

The GHS Pirates made a long trip to Northern New Mexico and took on the Taos Tigers (2-5, 00) in a memorable fashion as Andres Lazos struck paydirt and ran 75 yards for a kickoff return for touchdown and followed up with two-point conversion to allow for the Pirates to come in from behind and take the onepoint win in the waning moments of the fourth quarter. Pirate with their third “W” in a row.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - New Mexico United scored one of the most clutch victories in their five-year history, traveling to Phoenix and defeating Phoenix Rising FC by a 2-1 margin, moving above the playoff line with one match left - Friday’s home tilt against Memphis 901 FC. Amando Moreno and Justin Portillo scored for the Black & Yellow, who could control their own destiny, depending on the result of the Monterey Bay FC - Birmingham Legion match on Sunday.

Fall Sports Moving Closer to Districts

The cool crisp mornings bring us closer to Fall weather— that also brings the high school sports teams across the county closer to district play. The Grants High School football team is currently 3-3 on a bye week and will face the 24 Taos Tigers this Friday on the road in their final non-district game. The Pirates are second in district 4A 3/5 just behind the 5-1 Silver Colts and just ahead of the 3-3 Valencia Jaguars. St. Pius rounds out the district at 2-4.
