GRANTS, N.M. - The Pirates had a tough loss in a close district game to Moriarty last Friday in Moriarty.“The loss really stings,” said Grants High School head coach Steve Brown as he summed up the one points loss.

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. - Fishing picked up slightly this week with some mild activity on the shoreline.Anglers reported SLOW to FAIR catfishing using hot dogs, especially near the rocky outcroppings and parkside drop-offs.
The Grants High School Pirates lost a close game last week on the road to district rival, the Taos Tigers, 30-28. However, the bigger loss may be that senior quarterback Tristin Fernandez sustained a serious knee injury in that game and will not play this Friday against Moriarty in another tough district matchup. GRANTS, N.M. - The Pirates, well rested after their bye week, traveled the scenic “low road” following the Rio Grande River up the canyon to Taos to take on the Tigers last Friday.The Tigers (3-4, 3-1) were ready to take on the Pirates and give the third ranked Pirates a game.

GRANTS, N.M. -The Grants High School volleyball team is 7-10, 0-2 after this past week’s matches.The Lady Pirates lost to district rival St. Pius 30 (25-9, 25-7, 25-11) on October 9th. They currently are fourth out of five teams in district 5 4A. St. Pius leads the district with at 12-3, 2-0.

GRANTS, N.M. With only four games left, the Grants High School Pirates are currently on a bye-week and are sitting in a jolly good spot at 5-1, 3-0 and ranked second in the state in 4A just behind last year’s state champion and district rival, the Bloomfield Bobcats (51,3-0).
