Pirates Season Opener at Miyamura

The Grants High School pirate football team fresh off a scrimmage with 2A Santa Rosa is headed to Gallup this Friday to take on the 5A Miyamura Patriots in their opening game of the 2025 season.

It was another slow week at Bluewater Lake, as anglers reported little success with even the most time-tested baits.From worms to PowerBait, chicken liver to hot dogs and shrimp— nothing seemed to turn the bite on.

BLUEWATER LAKE, N.M. – The dog days of summer are here, and fishing at Bluewater Lake has slowed to a crawl for some species. Catfish action in particular has been sluggish, with anglers using Rapala jointed minnows reporting minimal bites over the past week.Fishing at the lake has been deemed SLOW.
