New Mexico United Wins First-Ever Home Playoff Match, Tops Phoenix Rising, 2-1

Pirate Cross Country teams Off to State

The Grants High School cross country boys and girls teams are off to the state cross country meet after placing second and third at the district 54A meet.Top 20 finishers for the Pirates in the boys 500 meter race were John Paul Miller who placed third with a time of 17:48.

The Lady Pirates are wrapping up their volleyball season and will travel for their last district game to Belen on Nov. 5.The Lady Pirates lost to St. Pius 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-8) on October 29. In their next game they defeated Highland 3-0 (2517, 25-8, 25-17).

NM State Welcomes Western Kentucky for Homecoming Tilt

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Following a 10-day hiatus, NM State is set to return to action on Saturday as it hosts the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky in the penultimate home game of the season. The Aggie football game scheduled to kickoff at 4 p.m.

This week's Athlete of the Week is the Grants High School Football Team for receiving a seventh seed in the NMAA 4A football state playoffs. The Pirates have a 5-5, 4-3 record.

Pirate Volleyball Coming to Close

The Grants High School volleyball team is currently 8-12 ,1-4 after dropping their last two games 0-3 and 0-3. On October 17 the Lady Pirates lost to Belen High School 25-19, 25-22 and 25-14. On October 24 the Lady Pirates lost to Valencia High School 25-13, 25-16 and 25-13. They will travel to St.

GHS Soccer Season Concludes

The Grants High School soccer season has drawn to a close with the GHS boys soccer team wrapping up the season with a 3-13, 0-8 record. They lost their last two most recent games. On October 17 they lost to Highland High School (11-8-1, 6-2) by a score of 10-0.

Grants Invite a Success

Grants High School Cross Country hosted the Grants Invite last weekend.A total of 11 schools participated in the invite with local teams dominating the top 10.Notable Pirates placing at the event were John Paul Miller, a senior, who placed 3rd with a time of 18:19.61.

Athlete of the Week

This week's Athlete of the Week is Isiah Ortega, 1, of the Grants High School football team. Ortega, a junior, is a wide receiver for the Pirates had a touchdown last week against the Bernalillo Spartans. Ortega led the Pirates to receive yards, with 85-yards in that game.
