Pirates Beat Pintos in Stormy Homecoming game 19-6

The Pirates defeated rival the Moriarty Pintos in the homecoming game last Saturday. One would think that a 2pm game in New Mexico in October would have “cool” weather. Think again. A Storm with a capital “s” brought rain, sleet, wind and lightning to the Port of the Pirates.

The GHS boys’ Pirates lost their contest to the Highland Hornets by a score of 10-0. The GHS boys’ soccer team is currently 3-12, 0-7. The GHS volleyball team is currently 8-11, 1-3 after a 3-0 win over Highland High School and a 0-3 loss to Belen High School.

This week's Athlete of the Week is Andres Lazos, a senior, on the Grants High School football team. Lazos had two touchdowns and 111-yards rushing in the homecoming game last week. The Pirates defeated the Pintos 19-6.
