Cruzzin’ Cibola

Hope you and yours are doing fine, from everyone at the Cibola Citizen. Got a question for you, if you are tired of the same old stories on television and they are starting to get to you, why not take an active role in our newspaper?

Ensuring self-government

GRANTS, N.M. — The Grants City Charter is a blueprint to how the city can and should operate. The document is 32 pages long, filled with legal mumbo-jumbo that most people don’t have the opportunity or desire to read and understand given the sheer length and complexity of the document.

Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor; This past Saturday the Village of Milan had a very successful cleanup. We had a big turnout, and everyone had a good time. Village Manager Sarah Austin, her husband MFD Chief Austin, new Code Enforcement Officer Michael, other firefighters and Village employees showed up also.

The new norm: ... dreams!

By Roger Siegmann I think we all wish and dream that normalcy… the way it was before COVID -19 will return. I daydream of the Bibo Bar’s green chili cheeseburger and I try to visit there each spring.

What is a charter?

Our future here in Cibola County is the responsibility of the leaders and community members living here now. It’s up to us to plan and achieve things for our children so they too can have a future in the community we grew up and live in.

Thanking community members

Dear Editor; I wanted to thank everyone that turned out for our Cibola County Cleanup at Mt. Taylor Addition this past Saturday. Grants City Councilman Erik Garcia, George Olveda, Tony Canaba, the Ford family, and many others came to help and make their community cleaner.

The new norm: ... looking up!

I watched the news this morning and logged the new COVID numbers in New Mexico today on my calendar as I have done since it came to America. I am gladdened that the number of cases has slowed tremendously as have the deaths… things are looking up!

Why we mask

World War II, The Great War, Vietnam, 9/11. COVID-19 has killed more Americans than all four of those violent tragedies combined. This is why we mask. We mask for the veteran at church. We mask for our grandmothers making our favorite foods. We mask for the expecting mother at the grocery store.
