It is during these times of continual unrest as a nation and society in which a state of peace seems more and more difficult to achieve. A state of peace for our nation might seem a little out of reach right now, but the state of peace that is right within our reach is our own.

Remember the saying “if only these walls could talk?” Well, I have this penny that I received as change for a fuel purchase at a local gas station about a month ago and I thought the same here “if only it could talk.

Vaccine rollout Dear Editor; Although everyone is happy to see the vaccines arrival and begin the process of getting back to normal, I am alarmed with the speed, or lack thereof, of getting shots into arms. The delay can be laid squarely at the feet of the outgoing administration.

Celebrating the holiday season amid the pandemic left people of all ages wondering about familial relationships while pondering long-standing traditions. Some folks refused to stay home for a variety of reasons; others hunkered down. It was the end of a long, hard year for most of us.

Well, we made it into 2021 and I cautiously look for all its pending surprises to come. I looked out the front room window at our automobiles on the driveway and realized they are a year older now. I looked in the mirror and realized the same.

Disappointing county commission decision

Dear Editor; On December 22, 2020 I watched the Cibola County Commission meeting on Zoom. I was really disappointed with the county commissioners that voted to give themselves a raise and other elected officials.

We made it through this Christmas, and it was different. Evelyn and I did not have granddaughters here to laugh and giggle and guess what was in each one's gifts or ask for more hot chocolate or biscochitos.

Maybe you need to talk to someone

As we celebrate the Christmas and New Year, it may be a good time to take stock of ourselves, and our friends and family. Not who sent a card or who gave you a present, but of our mental health and relationships. I recently heard the term, “a battle buddy” and thought that was appropriate.
