This plan includes the timeline, minimum qualifications, desirable characteristics, advertising, screening, background checks, staff and community engagement, interviewing selection, and salary range.

Zuni Man Indicted for Firearms Offenses

Diego Lopez, Reporter ZUNI PUEBLO – 30year-old Zuni man Ian Channing Lasiloo was indicted on April 5 for a number of firearms-related offenses that led to the alleged intentional wounding of an unidentified victim. According to the indictment, on August 15, Lasiloo, a man who is classified in court documents as “a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition” allegedly used that prohibited .22 caliber revolver to attack and assault the unidentified victim with “the intent to cause bodily harm.” Lasiloo is an enrolled member of the Zuni Tribe.

Editor’s Note: Cibola County was abuzz with excitement with the opportunity for hydrogen power generation to be situated at the old Escalante Power Generating station in Prewitt, N.M. The funding applied for by the Western Inter-State Hydrogen Hub program did not include funding for the Escalante site. The Cibola Citizen is working to understand why the Escalante area was not included in this list of funding opportunities.

Judge Finds Legislative Council Service in Violation of IPRA

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Foundation for Open Government (FOG) applauds the decision by New Mexico First Judicial Court Judge Kathleen McGarry Ellenwood ruling the New Mexico Legislative Council Service (LCS) violated the Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) by failing to fulfill a request from Ethics Watch for public records regarding the 2021 Junior Appropriations Act.

Preparing for Fire Season

GRANTS, NM - According to George Ducker, Wildfire Prevention and Communications Coordinator of the New Mexico State Forestry Division, wildfire prevention should be at the top of the mind for everyone. Ducker stated that a lot of people don't necessarily want to take a few hours to a whole day of their time to do what could be necessary to prevent the spread of wildfire onto their property. He stressed that spring is the time to do it. All it takes is a spark to cause a fire that can spread quickly on a windy day. The advice comes as the US Bureau of Land Management begins a controlled burn in the Zuni Mountains.
