The Grants High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams secured large victories in the form of state seeding. The two teams dominated the court this season and are both advancing to the first round of the state tournament.
LAGUNA, N.M. – The Laguna-Acoma High School lady Hawks ended the regular season last Friday night with a 42-33 win against the Sandia Prep Sundevils in the district 5-3A tournament championship.

The lady Pirates suffered a shattering loss to the St. Pius X Sartans on Feb. 26 in the semi-final round of the district tournament. The 49-40 loss may have hurt, but the lady Pirates 5-3 district record allowed the lady Pirates the 11th seed.
GRANTS, N.M. – The Grants High School Pirate basketball team suffered a one-point loss to the Valencia Jaguars on Feb. 27. The loss came after a defensive struggle which put the Pirate team to the test and while it crushed their chances of reaching the championship game in the district tournament, it was still enough to allow the Pirates the 13th seed in the state tournament.
