GRANTS, N.M. - Last week, three Grants High School seniors traveled to AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Texas to play in the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl. Bryan Hernandez, 17, Terrell Hocker, 18, and Cyler Aragon, 18, each went through a nomination and application process and were invited to play in the game.

Bryan Jacob Hernandez, Cyler Aragon, and Terrell Hocker will be representing Grants High School and the State of New Mexico at the Offense/Defense All American Bowl at AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas, January 26-29. The Offense-Defense AllAmerican Bowl Week is currently in its tenth year and is a week-long series of events including awards dinners, press conferences, the ODFL National tournament, Youth All-American Bowl Games, a youth football convention, a coaches clinic, and many other exciting events. The top 80 high school athletes across the country are invited to play in showdowns for the greatest football players in the world to show their stuff. Athletes who have participated in the Bowl include such players as Cam Newton, Dez Bryant, Joe Haden, Rolando McClain, Earl Thomas, Golden Tate, Carlos Dunlap, and many more.

Amanda Young and Nathan Mullins are a young married couple who joined the Cibola community in July. Young works in the medical field and had been making work-related visits to Grants since 2018. When Cibola General Hospital invited her to join the staff full-time, Young “knew this is somewhere we wanted to be.”

Lundstrom to head GHS boys soccer

New coach at the pirate helm for GHS boys’ soccer program, Charles Lundstrom, brings AYSO experience to the soccer field this upcoming season. “I really enjoy soccer, coaching and developing student athletes,” said Lundstrom when asked about why he applied for the position.
